It started to snow on Oct 16th 2003, when Chris finally arrived in Moscow. The city was dark and not very welcoming, but with the help of his friends, Chris made it work and started a business. Moscow has been a rollercoaster ride, ever since. 10 years after his arrival Chris got married and his daughter was born.
At first Chris wanted to find a job at an advertising agency, but that didn’t seem to work out, because he didn’t speak Russian. After a few months, Chris found himself some talented Russian programmers and continued with his NYC company CYGEN (in Russia, Germany and the US), offering website production for his US and European clients in Russia for a much lower price, than abroad.
This business worked well, but he profit margins sored gradually until Chris decided to change things in 2008. That is, when he opened the advertising agency KOLLEKTIV with his American partner Donald, a former creative director of the TBWA agency.
Things started alright, but the economy didn’t do as well, as before and after all there was no need for yet another advertising agency. Donald decided to move back to the US, while Chris continued with his team until the next financial crisis and the first sanctions round in 2014. In the meantime KOLLEKTIV served clients like Volkswagen, Red Bull, Baltika, SC Johnson, Domodedovo Airport and many more.
