Bavarian, but global citizen, creative mind with a background in The Internet, TV, advertising and management. Chris is also a published writer and known DJ. Besides, Chris is the founder of MoscowClubs.com an incoming concierge service, serving VIP’s from around the world.

Born in 1971 in Munich / Germany. Actually in Schwabing, the party central of Munich.
Chris’s parents seperated and he grew up in the city of Bamberg, which is known for its good beer.

After school Chris joined the German federal police. He visited the police academy and after spent 5 years in their helicopter squad.

1992 – 1997 Snowboard Pro – Garmisch-Partenkirchen / Germany
Chris did Skateboarding (from the age of 6) and many years of skiing (from the age of 3) in his youth. In 1990 he started windsurfing and snowboarding. From 1992 Chris worked as a snowboard teacher at the local ski-school at the Zugspitze, Germanys highest and most popular mountain. He then became a semi pro and rode the German Cup. From 1995 Chris was a snowboard pro, mainly riding off-piste / freeride and also did a lot of extremes snowboarding. His favorite spot was La Grave in France, but he rode all over Europe and even in Valdez Alaska and various ski areas in California.

In 1992, during snowboarding, Chris met his longterm girlfriend from Berlin. He spent most of his time snowboarding, but all other free time with her in Berlin. Her brother introduced Chris to Berlins thriving techno scene.

Chris did breakdancing in his teenage years. He loved and played Hip Hop and RnB. At the end of the 80s he went to punk and grunge. During his snowboard days, Chris was known for organizing his famous illegal open air parties in Kaunertal and Soelden.

From 1995 Chris wrote the music columns of 4 German & Swiss snowboard magazines. He met and did interviews with bands like the Beastie Boys, Suicidal Tendencies, Offspring, NOFX, Bad Religion, Goldie and many more.

In 1997 Chris was told, that he will not become a helicopter pilot, as he wanted. He had just been appointed civil servant, which meant he was irredeemable for life. But still, he decided to leave the federal police and start a new life. Chris organized a going away party for his friends at home and tagged almost everything in his apartment with sticky notes and a price on it. By the end of the night, almost everything was sold. From the computer to the silver wear to his bed. He wanted to travel the world. First stop: New York.

Chris is Bavarian / German, but decided to leave and start a new life in 1997. ever since he is living abroad, travelling and collecting experiences.

NEW YORK

Chris moved to the Big Apple in 1997. He started as a web-designer and managed to become the CTO of a large advertising agency. After 2000 he ran his own company. In May 2002 he left, after 9/11 showed its effect and there was no more work.

TENERIFE

From May 2002 Chris had a job / project on the beautiful island of Tenerife. He became the technology director of Spains largest travel website. The project finished after 9 months, but Chris decided to stay until Oct 2003 and is still in love with this beautiful island.

MOSCOW

Chris visited Russia for the first time in February 2003 and decided to move there and try his luck in October 2003. He first did website production for his former US and European clients with Russian programmers. After he worked in advertising, new media and event planning, ever since.

NEW YORK

Chris mainly lived in Manhatten, apart from a 3 month stay in Queens. He first worked as a webdesigner and after a few years worked his way up to CTO of an advertising agency. This agency was bought by a large global advertising network and after Chris worked as CTO and Technology Director in various agencies of this network.

In the year 2000, Chris left the agency and started his own company CYGEN. He did website production and offshore development for his former agency network and other clients. Besides Chris worked as a consultant for various investors, doing technical due diligence on prospect investments. Chris also did consulting for an American / Indian offshore development, which started to work with a large German corporate client.

Chris continued to write for various magazines and mainly for his own online magazine. He also organized parties and djed in various New York bars and even on an Italian festival in Tuscany. After 9/11 Chris threw one of the first big parties in lower Manhatten (in his office loft) with around 200 guests. From the year 2000 Chris lived with a model and has got to know the fashion circle.

9/11 Fall of the towers

After the tragic events of 9/11, which Chris eyewitnessed, his company phone didn’t ring for the next 6 weeks. After that quiet period the clients called to freeze or cancel their retainers. Only one of 12 clients remained and it was the smallest. After downsizing and moving offices, Chris needed to take on a project abroad in May 2002, since there was no work in New York and he ran out of money. Next Stop: Tenerife, Canarias / Spain.

TENERIFE

Chris’s first vacation and childhood memory came from the island of Tenerife, located about 300 kilometers off the coast of West Sahara / Africa. It was 1974 and Chris was 3 years old. Who would have thought, that he will return to the island once again and this time to live and work there.

Chris worked for the largest Spanish Internet travel portal, as their technology director. He lived in the Nothern city of Puerto de La Cruz, but worked in the Canarian capitol Santa Cruz. After 9 months the investor decided to pull the plug and Chris had another 3 months of his salery, company car and paid apartment, before he was on his own.

That day, when he was told that his work is finished, he stood on the companies terrace, looking at the Ocean and thinking what will come next. Just in that moment his telephone rang and his Russian friend invited him to come to Moscow for a visit.

Moscow in February 2003 was dark and cold. Chris didn’t like the city much, but there was something about it and he missed living in a metropolis. Once Chris returned to Tenerife, he worked as a consultant for various investors and his remaining US client. He also djed in one of the islands best bars and had a residency in a local club. Life was easy and beautiful, but a bit boring at the same time. After another 9 months, when his landlord asked him, if he wants to renew the lease for another year, Chris decided to pack up and move on. Next Stop: Moscow.

DJing

Chris started out with compiling old school mix tapes when he was 16 years old and djs ever since. He started with hip hop, played punkrock and grunge, then moved back to Hip Hop, then to Lounge and Downbeat, Afrobeat, Krautrock and ended up playing Soulfoul Funky House in Spain. In Moscow he started with house, followed by Mashups and today plays a Deep Tech House flavor from Berlin and Ibiza. He also plays Future House, which is similar to the Soulful Funky House, he played 20 years ago.

Chris played on vinly, CDJ-players and today uses the Native Instruments S8 Kontrol. He performed for up to 1000 people in clubs and bars around the world, but also on various festivals. His highlight was a DJset infront of 250 party people in Teheran / Iran in 2018.

It started to snow on Oct 16th 2003, when Chris finally arrived in Moscow. The city was dark and not very welcoming, but with the help of his friends, Chris made it work and started a business. Moscow has been a rollercoaster ride, ever since. 10 years after his arrival Chris got married and his daughter was born.

At first Chris wanted to find a job at an advertising agency, but that didn’t seem to work out, because he didn’t speak Russian. After a few months, Chris found himself some talented Russian programmers and continued with his NYC company CYGEN (in Russia, Germany and the US), offering website production for his US and European clients in Russia for a much lower price, than abroad.

This business worked well, but he profit margins sored gradually until Chris decided to change things in 2008. That is, when he opened the advertising agency KOLLEKTIV with his American partner Donald, a former creative director of the TBWA agency.

Things started alright, but the economy didn’t do as well, as before and after all there was no need for yet another advertising agency. Donald decided to move back to the US, while Chris continued with his team until the next financial crisis and the first sanctions round in 2014. In the meantime KOLLEKTIV served clients like Volkswagen, Red Bull, Baltika, SC Johnson, Domodedovo Airport and many more.
